This is where the healing begins. We all have wounds. We all wonder why we do certain things. Whether it's anger, an addiction, fear, shame -- whatever it is -- East Hill's Life Change Groups provide a safe and relational atmosphere where there's no shaming or judgment. Instead of being told to just "try harder," we provide the tools, the spiritual covering, and the support you need to heal from your wounds and experience real change.
Life Change Groups focus on your emotional health and restoration. We encourage you to connect, belong, grow and overcome your fears, addictions, sense of inadequacy, codependency, loss and pain in the context of community. We believe you can live life to the full as promised in John 10:10 -- "The thief comes to steal, kill, maim and destroy, but I have come that you might have life to the full."
There are a number of Life Change Groups going on multiple times a week, all year long. Here are some of the main ones and their descriptions:
Freedom Now
People struggling with addiction can find hope and healing at Freedom Now, led by Rev. Evelyn Diment. There are different types of groups that meet at various times throughout the week. No registration required.
Hope For Families
A support group that provides a confidential and safe place for women dealing with emotional and physical abuse.
For Men Only
Join one of the many "FMO" small groups that meet weekly to help men from East Hill who are engaged in the fight for sexual purity and integrity. These groups are led by men who have been there and understand.
In order to join this group, a man must first attend Orientation. Orientation is offered the second Wednesday of each month at 7PM in room A-13. For more information, please contact Eric Waller at 503-661-4444 or email him at ericw@easthill.org.
Betrayal and Beyond
Ladies, if you have been hurt and your trust damaged by your husband’s sexual issues, this group will help you heal. Life Groups will meet with qualified female leaders who have walked through this profound pain themselves. New groups are forming a few times each year. If you are interested or need more information please email Flynnjanel@gmail.com or call Annette Currier 503-927-9937.
Stephen Ministry
If you're going through a tough time and need to talk to someone, trained Stephen Ministers are available. Stephen Ministers offer temporary support to East Hill families through attentive, active listening and a caring presence on a weekly basis, over several months.
