Tension restricts our creative powers, is harmful to our health, and is evidence of a lack of trust in an all-powerful God. As we give ourselves, we find ourselves: “Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it” (Matthew 10:39). One of the surest roads to happiness is to become involved in a worthy cause, something greater than yourself, a cause that will lead souls to Christ. Stop asking God and start thanking him. Put the problem of tomorrow into the hands of God. Believe that you are guided by him and that he is with you. God loves you, and all his power is waiting to work for you. Live with God in your mind. You are in touch with a constant source of supply. Discipline your mind to avoid conflict and stress. Tension saps one’s energy. A major part of tiredness originates in the mind. Keep your thinking zestful and enthusiastic. The Bible’s prescription for energy is found in Isaiah 40:31. Remember that God created you and is continually recreating you. The secret of continuous power is to adjust to God’s controlled pace and tempo. Synchronize your thinking and living with God’s unhurried timing.
Use this prayer as a starting place to surrender your heart and thoughts to God. Just tell God what’s on your mind and what you’re feeling, and the Holy Spirit will help you realize what God’s perspective is.
“Lord, here I am. I’m exhausted. Holy Spirit, please help me know your peace about this. God what are you doing here?! Whatever it is, I know you can be trusted. I know you’re all-powerful and over all things. I know you are full of purpose and that you specialize in taking tough situations and bringing good things out of them. So help me give up my worry. I don’t want there to be anything on earth that would make me not praise you. Even if everything seems to be going against me, I still want to praise you and recognize your goodness and great name. So here I am. Here are all of the things that I’m worrying about. I trust you. I trust in your goodness and character. You are God in heaven, and I am on earth, so I will let my words be few (Ecclesiastes 5:2). Thank you, Lord for who you are. I praise you for the things you have already done. You are completely worthy of my praise regardless of whatever happens anywhere at any time. Help me trust you! I want to know you. Amen.”
