The best therapy for discouragement is a simple trust and confidence in a loving, forgiving, all-wise Father. Realize that his everlasting arms are upholding you (Deuteronomy 33:27). Bring God to the forefront of your thinking, believing that he can and will solve your problems.
Take this prayer and make it your own. Tell God what is in your heart, and know that he is listening and hears you. He truly can take care of you.
“Here I am, Lord. I’m discouraged. Please speak to me and help me hear what you are saying to me and about my life. Renew my mind and heart with a fresh perspective of your heart. Help me choose to remember your goodness and your power to deliver. I want to trust you. I know you’re full of love and power, even when I can’t feel it. Here is my life and everything that I’m worried about and everything I don’t know how to do, and all of the things that have disappointed me and taken away my hope. I know that you’re working in my life. I will praise you and put my hope in you because of who you are, not because of how things are going in my life, because you promised you would never leave me. You are faithful forever. Amen!”
